Where are we?

We are incredibly central in Hobarts CBD. Close by are all the required services like banks, supermarkets, Flight Centre, Government offices, bus stops, Transit Centre, airporter shuttle bus and more. Also extremely close by are the tourist spots like Salamanca Market, Battery Point, the Jam Factory, UTAS gallery, Maritime Museum, State Art Gallery, State Library, Elizabeth Street Mall the waterfront and everything else Hobart has to offer.

The Front Door

Our front entrance is in the Imperial Arcade, in-between Fullers Bookstore and the Newsagancy. We are opposite Dick Smiths (bright yellow shop front). We have a 24-hour security entrance which is up an alleyway beside the building. This alleyway is well lit at night time.

Driving - From Launceston

Take the 'North Hobart/City Centre' exit off the Booker Highway by turning right (before the big roundabout). This is Warwick Street. Turn left onto Murray Street (the 6th left turn), and left again onto Collins Street (which is also the 6th left turn). We are about 1/3 of the way along that block on the right, opposite Dick Smiths (yellow shop front), and in between Fullers Bookstore and the Newsagency.

If you miss the 'North Hobart/City Centre' turn off, you will arrive at a big roundabout. To find us, simply turn right at the roundabout and follow the directions below.

Driving - from Airport or Port Arthur

Turn right at the 'City Centre' exit off the A3, after the Tasman Bridge. Go straight through the big roundabout. This is Liverpool Street. Turn left onto Murray Street, and left again onto Collins Street. We are about 1/3 of the way along that block, opposite Dick Smiths (yellow shop front), and in between Fullers Bookstore and the Newsagency.

Flying - Shuttle Bus from Airport

Step out of the arrivals lounge and find the Airporter Shuttle Bus service. Tell the friendly driver you are staying at Central City Backpackers, and he will drop you off just around the corner, and point you in the right direction. This trip costs approx. $11.00 one-way, or $19.00 return (the return is handy if you are flying out of Hobart). Take note of where he drops you off, as this is where lots of tours pick up from, and where the Shuttle Bus will pick you up for your return to the airport.
