“Great value, excellent location”

We stayed here for 4 nights. We were checking in after reception had closed but had been given all the information we needed to access the hostel and find our room.
We stayed in a double room. There isn't a sink, fridge or TV (which we have had in all our other double rooms in hostels). Rooms was a bit small but comfy enough. You have to pay for any bed linen, we slept in sleeping bags.
On our floor, for ladies, there were 4 showers and 3 toilets. Not really enough for the amount of guests but at least they were clean. Kitchen was large but a bit grotty (but mainly down to other guests not cleaning up after themselves).
Common areas were large. Nice lounge area with huge TV and 5 sofas. Internet available but pricey (head to The Mouse Lounge, round the corner for better rates). Excellent notice board where you can find travelling buddies, camping gear, jobs etc.
Hostel was fairly quiet, just set back off the road. 4 flights of stairs at least, no lift. Storage room for luggage which is handy. Airport shuttle bus stops/collects from round the corner. Excellent location in CBD. Staff friendly and full of useful advice.

“Happy with Central City”

I spent a week in this hostel. It's a large, busy place in the center of town. It's a no frills place, and a little noisy but I'd recommend it for the following reasons:
1) Incredibly friendly, helpful and patient staff.
2) Great location...right in the city center, close to all downtown Hobart shopping and easy walk to Salamanca Market. And its well lit, so at night you're able to walk to the few bars in Hobart or the one 24/7 bakery
3) Cheap rate: all girls 12 bed dorm, less than $15 per night (web special of 7th night free)
Other things to know:
Internet access is 24/7, although a little pricey. And its on the 2nd/3rd floors of a downtown building, no elevator. There's also a wide variety of ages of people staying there, so its not hard at all to meet people.
