Richmond

Richmond is a beautiful quiet town ull of old buildings and coffee's, crafts, candy and character. it has the historic Richmond Bridge, featured in the photos below.

Most 3 day tours visit Richmond on their way up the east coast of Tasmania, or you can do a day trip with one of a few companies. The best of these companies is the Mega Tour because it visits Port Arthur, yet still spends quite a bit of time at Richmond

If you have access to a vehicle, it is an approximate 40 minute scenic drive out of Hobart. You could easily spend an entire day visiting Sorell, Richmond and the beautiful surrounding countryside.

Personally, I would recommend visiting Richmond on the same day as a Port Arthur tour. It makes a great day, without huge amounts of driving. If you are on your way to Bicheno, plan on visiting Richmond, and even Ross and you will still make the penguins at Bicheno at around 5pm.
